What You Need to Know
✅ Great News!
WeightSyncr fully supports Garmin Connect accounts with 2FA enabled. The setup process is identical to non-2FA accounts, with just one additional verification step.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security layer to your Garmin Connect account. Here's what you need:
- Your Garmin Connect account
- Access to the verification method associated with that Garmin account
- WeightSyncr app installed on your iPhone
Connection Process
Connecting your 2FA-enabled Garmin account is straightforward:
- Open WeightSyncr and go to the Settings tab
- Tap "Connect Garmin Account"
- Follow the prompts to authenticate with Garmin
- Complete verification if Garmin requests a code
- Wait for the connection to complete
- Verify you see "Connected" status in Settings
Security Note: Only enter a verification code while completing the Garmin authentication flow, and never share a code with another person.
That's it! Your 2FA-enabled account is now connected and you can start syncing weight data.
Troubleshooting 2FA
2FA Code Not Working
- Use the newest code: Verification codes expire, so request another if needed
- Check the configured method: Look wherever Garmin normally sends your account verification code
- Check filtered messages: If Garmin sent an email, inspect junk or spam folders
- Retry once: Start a fresh authentication attempt rather than reusing an older code
"Authentication Failed" Error
- Test Garmin sign-in: Sign in to Garmin Connect directly to confirm the account is available
- Check the verification code: Make sure it belongs to the current connection attempt
- Try again: Sometimes temporary server issues cause authentication failures
Stuck During Authentication
- Close and retry: Force close WeightSyncr and start the connection process again
- Check network: Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Disable VPN: Some VPNs interfere with authentication processes
Periodic Reconnection
For security reasons, 2FA-enabled accounts may require periodic re-authentication:
📅 Reconnection Prompt
Garmin may occasionally require you to authenticate again before syncing can continue.
When this happens: WeightSyncr will show "Disconnected" in Settings, and syncs will fail until you reconnect.
How to Reconnect
If you see a "Disconnected" status after syncing previously worked:
- Go to WeightSyncr Settings
- Tap "Connect Garmin Account" (no need to disconnect first)
- Authenticate with Garmin and complete verification if requested
- Your sync history and settings remain intact
Reconnecting does not change the weight entries already shown in WeightSyncr.
Security Benefits
Using 2FA adds another verification step when Garmin needs to confirm a connection:
Account Protection
Two-factor authentication asks for an additional verification step when Garmin detects a new sign-in or connection.
Data Privacy
Garmin authentication and 2FA help protect access to your connected account.
🏆 Best Practice
We recommend enabling 2FA on your Garmin Connect account for maximum security. WeightSyncr works seamlessly with 2FA and adds no complexity to your daily use.
